LET’S BE REAL

LET’S BE REAL

The reality is that we are part of the universe.  And yes, there may be permutations, wormholes and even parallel universes, but they are all part of the ‘what is’.  They are all part of the cause and effect that is governed by the rules and order which are subscribed to by all greater and lesser systems than ourselves.

In general terms, the universe consists of matter, energy, space and time, and though it inescapably permeates and surrounds us, it is impossible to see, experience or even begin to comprehend its totality. The stuff of the universe is fluid and transformational so that its configuration changes and evolves by the instant.   Our small glimpse is always after the fact, due to the limits of our access, understanding and processing ability.  Still, how we relate to it determines our effective reality.

The universe is a moving target that is mostly hidden from our view, so relating to it and being real can be an exercise in futility. The most we can probably hope for is to be reality oriented.  That orientation functions like a filter that governs our assessments and guides our choices.   In other words, what matters is how we use our energy in the space and time we have.

Some might see a priority of orientating towards reality as a cramping of their style.  After all, we are an imaginative, inventive and creative species.   Every other life form, that we’ve encountered thus far, pales by comparison.  Our history is remarkable, to say the least, but the current status of our little corner of reality begs the question:  “Will we withstand the test of time?”.

From our earliest ancestors, our comprehension of reality has been shaped by stories and legends, along with the various versions of mythology we use to try and make sense of it all.  Science, and the technology it spawns, has increased the resolution of our understanding, but still leaves us the freedom to believe whatever we want.

Eventually, we will write the last chapter of our human story on this planet, and in this universe.  Our ability to discern reality and to live in harmony with it will determine if it is a book of truth or fiction.
